Xarel-Lo opens with a powerful expression of peach, apple, and white flowers, with vanilla and tobacco in the background. Fresh, rich and intense attack, marked by notes of tree fruits, good tannins, spices, and good acidity in the finish.
Catalunya, in the north-east of Spain is wedged between the French border and Barcelona on the Mediterranean coastline. All of Catalunya region gained DO appellation in 1999, and comprises 11 other DO nowadays. Catalunya is worldwide renowned for its Cava, and also highly regarded for its red wine production in Priorat.
Moderate Mediterranean climate
The soils in Catalunya are influenced by its Mediterranean climate and border to the Pyrenees. Growing conditions become progressively more arid as you get further inland. The diversity of soil types, mostly calcareous sediments mixed with alluvium, sandy soils, and clay allow the presence of some of the most renowned vineyards of Spain. Microclimates and great vineyards are also found on hidden scattered limestone deposits in the area.
