Tasting Notes
Terrasses du Larzac from Domaine de Montcalmes is a classic red wine from Southern France with an aromatic expression of ripe red fruits, dried herbs and tea leaves on the nose, plus some hints of vanilla and tobacco in the background. Charming, velvety, yet lively attack, with notes of red fruits, black fruits, vegetal, and some spices in the finish.
France
Languedoc-Roussillon
Languedoc-Roussillon is the largest wine region of France with almost a quarter of the national total production. The region is located in the south, in the western part of the Mediterranean Sea from the Spanish border towards Montpellier. Languedoc-Roussillon is showing significant progress in the quality of its wines.

Domaine de Montcalmès
The soils in the Languedoc-Roussillon region vary according to the AOC and IGP scheme. From vineyards to vineyards one can find vast pebble terraces, sandstone clay, calcareous clay, limestone and shale, clayey soils, sandy soils, representing a valuable asset for promoting the quality of the wines. We can distinguish the composition of soil near the coast (alluvial soils) from limestone and gravel based soils inland. Poor soils are a common characteristic of the region, which forces the roots digging down very deeply to get water and nutrients.
