Tasting Notes
Mouchao Tonel 3-4 has a wonderful expression of ripe black fruits, black berries and spices on the nose, plus hints of tobacco in the background. Smooth, and rich attack, with combined notes of blackberries and plums, wonderful tannins giving great complexity, and a long finish.
Portugal
Alentejo
Alentejo wine region covers about a third of Portugal located eastern of Lisbon. This well-known wine region is highly respected in Portugal for its red wines. The region has eight sub-regions but most of the production is sold under Alentejo DOC title. These wines are often made from Aragonez (Tempranillo), Castelao, or Trincadeira.

Moderate mountain climate
Herdade do Mouchao
The soils in Alentejo can easily be divided into two sub-regions. Portalegre lies to the north east on the granite foothills of the São Mamede mountains, with cooler temperatures, giving complexity and freshness to the wines. Conditions are more challenging in the south part of Alentejo, with poor, limestone-based soils and a significantly hotter climate. Here, a new generation of producers has shown the potential of the terroirs around Vidigueria.
