Tasting Notes
Kamptal Langenlois Gruner Veltliner opens with a refreshing expression of pear, green apple, and tropical fruits, with zest of lemon in the background. Lively, juicy, and refined attack, with lovely notes of tree fruits and tropical fruits, followed by a great acidity in the finish.
Austria
Niederösterreich
Niederosterreich is the country's largest wine region located in the north-east of Austria. This region is Austria's largest quality-wine-growing area with eight of the 16 official wine regions, but also half of the total production. Grüner Veltliner and Riesling are by far the two main grape varieties.
Cool continental climate
Schloss Gobelsburg
The soils in Niederösterreich are very diverse. One find Mica-schist in the Bohemian massif in the Kamptal region, but also bedrock weathered soils, covered with a thin coating of humus. The heart of Heiligenstein, an almost ideal partner for top-class Rieslings is a weathered desert sandstone from the Permian. Grüner Veltliner thrives on the gravel soils of Manhartsberg or the partly massive loess deposits that characterise the southern borders of this wine region.
