Tasting Notes
Friuli Grave Friulano opens with an aromatic expression of lemon, lime, with a background reminiscent of almond notes. Peach scented attack, followed by stony aromas balanced by great acidity, with a dry finish.
Italy
Friuli
Friuli wine region is bounded by the borders with Austria and Slovenia in the north-east. This relatively flat land on the foothills of the Alps is best known for its white wine production. Friuli gained recognition for unique and intensely flavoured styles of Pinot Grigio, and Sauvignon Blanc. Local white grape Friulano also stands out.
Moderate Mediterranean climate
Vignai da Duline
The soils in Friuli region vary from calcium rich marl and sandstone in the more hilly regions to clay, sand, and gravel in the valley. The region is comprised between the Alps, being the border with Austria, and the Adriatic Sea at the south. The northern half is very mountainous, so most of the vineyards are located in the southern half of the region, like Collio Goriziano, Colli Orientali del Friuli, Isonzo and Carso.
