“Patrick Uccelli produces high quality wines with both, a refined expression of Tyrol terroirs and a charming expression of grapes.”
The soils in the Trentino / Alto Adige wine region are immersed in the Southern Limestone Alps. Alto Adige constitutes the northern half of this region with soils ranging from volcanic porphyry (Kaltern region) primitive rock soils composed of quartz and mica (Isarco Valley) to limestone and dolomite (Bassa Atesina) to sandy marl (Kurtatsch region). This large spectrum offers the perfect subsoils and soils to each grape variety cultivated here.
A Passionate Lineage
Tenuta Ansitz Dornach is a minuscule winery located in Salorno in the southern part of Sud Tyrol. In 2008, after years of solely selling the grapes, Patrick and Karoline Uccelli decided to start making their own wines, and took over the family business. Karoline trained as a biologist and nowadays she takes care of all biodiversity in the estate. Patrick is an oenologist and is in charge of the cellar, while making sure he spends enough time in the vineyard. The estate is run in a biodynamic way - only few hundred cases of Pinot Bianco, Pinot Nero and 1000cc are made.
