“Jonatan Garçia Lima produces mineral wines, based on indigenous grape variety, with fast growing reputation.”
Soil Specificity
The soils in Canary Islands are influenced by the massive volcano of El Teide. This region is situated off the north African coast. Most of the vineyards climb the lower slopes of El Teide and benefit from cooler climates, higher level of rainfall and/or water. Soils vary, with sand and clay in deep patches, but Teide’s volcanic base is always present in all the vineyards. Volcanic soils offer a great minerality to wines.

A Passionate Lineage
Suertes del Marqués is a family winery located in the area known as “Las Suertes” in the region of La Orotava Valley. It is a 9 ha. vineyard consisting of 21 plots, extending in altitude from 350 metres to 700 metres above sea level. Here, they never lose sight of the respect for tradition. The use of native yeasts for winemaking is a key factor in their wine-making process. They use both stainless steel, concrete tanks, and also small French oak casks from artisan barrel makers in Burgundy. This process, together with the personality of the plot where the grapes are grown imbues their wines with a unique identity and character. The vineyards are mostly composed of ungrafted vine stocks (100+ year old) of black and white Listan grapes.
