“Bruno Prats produces wines of great tradition and quality with a respect to the terroir.”
Soil Specificity
The soils in the Douro Valley are made up of schist, a slate-like metamorphic rock. The numerous valleys, from Mesão Frio to the Spanish border are rich in nutrients with great water retention properties. The interstices of foliated schistose rock retain a large amount of humidity, allowing the vine to thrive in the arid conditions which prevail for most of the summer. The hard blue schist, in the Douro Superior, yellow schist or granite give the vines the ability to thrive well.

History / Ethos
Prats and Symington (P+S) is a joint venture between Bruno Prats (ex Cos d’Estournel) and the Symington family that brings together two great winemaking traditions. This wine is made exactly like a top growth Bordeaux except it is aged in larger barrels to accommodate the riper Touriga Nacional and Touriga Franca grapes. The fruit comes predominantly from the picturesque Quinta de Roriz estate on the southern banks of the Douro, an amazing wine that showcases what the region can really achieve.
