“Alberto Medici produces amazing Lambrusco and still red wines with character and refinement.”
The soils in Emilia-Romagna are Quaternary alluvial and glacio-fluvial deposits. From the rolling hills and Apennine peaks in the west to the lower-lying plains near Bologna, and beyond that the coastal plains of the Ferrara province, the soils are clay and sand based. The river Po flows west to east across all these features, marking the region's northern border and linking the Apennines to the Adriatic Sea.
A Passionate Lineage
Medici Ermete is a family business where Valter and Giorgio Medici continued their father and grandfather’s work. They also expanded the estate both economically and physically. At home they invested in new plantings and improved vineyard practices while also focusing on developing their export market by broadening the customer base for Lambrusco. The existing 15 hectares grew to 60 during the 90s. Today, Medici Ermete remains a family winery with Alberto Medici, the family’s fourth generation, managing all aspects of the estate, and making sure Medici remains synonymous with excellence.
