“Flavio Basilicata produces powerful wines with a precise and delicate refinement.”
Soil Specificity
The soils in Friuli region vary from calcium rich marl and sandstone in the more hilly regions to clay, sand, and gravel in the valley. The region is comprised between the Alps, being the border with Austria, and the Adriatic Sea at the south. The northern half is very mountainous, so most of the vineyards are located in the southern half of the region, like Collio Goriziano, Colli Orientali del Friuli, Isonzo and Carso.

A Passionate Lineage
Le Due Terre was created in 1984 by Silvana Forte and Flavio Basilicata to produce wines with a strong character and personality, reflecting the characteristics on their area. "Le Due Terre" means the two soils - marl and clay plots divided by the road in Prepotto, where the estate is located. Flavio is an avant-garde traditionalist aware of the necessity of refinement and complexity required by today's wine drinkers. He works respecting the nature and organic guidelines, without being certificated. His approach is simple ("less is better"): for instance, he prefers the action of the lees and oxygen to any intrusive manipulation.
