“Christiano Guttarolo produces wines that are pure, mineral and incredibly elegant.”
Soil Specificity
The soils in Puglia are influenced by their location at the extreme end of Italy. Here subsoils are based on Mesozoic limestone, marl, and residual deposits giving to the vines a terrific start. The Salento, and the Murge (a calcareous plateau) represent the top sites of the region where the soil is basically limestone, with a mixture of iron oxide that gives that red colour.

A Passionate Lineage
Guttarolo is a family business located in Gioia del Colle on the Murge plateau in Puglia. The project was set in 2004 to promote local grapes and reach higher quality of wine production, while respecting the surrounding nature. Natural principles are followed throughout the winemaking process, in both, the vineyard and the cellar. Primary fermentation occurs spontaneously through the use of indigenous yeasts, and malolactic fermentation occurs spontaneously in the spring. In contrast with everything else produced in the area, where big, fruit driven wines are very common, the genius of Primitivo enhance local grapes.
