Soil Specificity

The soils in Rheingau / Rheinhessen are defined by the Rhein Valley. Rheinhessen is a big and diverse wine region lying on the south bank, while Rheingau is one long hillside on the northern bank of the river. One can find many types of soil, including chalk, sand, gravel, clay, loess, quartz, and slate. The different soils contribute to the diversity of Riesling wines in the Region.

A Passionate Lineage

Georg Breuer was founded in 1880 as part of a wine merchant company. The domain is in the hands of the Breuer family since 1910. Georg Breuer increased the export of wines and purchased new vineyards in the 50s. Bernhard Breuer (Georg's Son) gained an international reputation for the quality of wines produced in the estate. His visions and hard work made the estate's recognition. Bernhard's daughter took over the business in 2004 with the aim of reaching even higher levels of quality.
