“Olivier Haag maintains the world-renowned reputation of the Domain for the production of intense, incisive Rieslings.”
Soil Specificity
The soils in Mosel / Saar / Ruwer are made of porous slate. The best sites are located on the slopes along the Mosel river and its tributaries, where the heat from the sun can be maximized by reflection. up from the water. The terroir is easily recognizable, thanks to its high content of slate. This gives slatey mineral notes to Riesling, ranking German Riesling at the top of the world.
History / Ethos
Fritz Haag is still a family-owned business located on the Mosel river with the earliest documentation dating back to 1605. Now run by Olivier Haag, the estate is exclusively planted with Riesling producing wines that cover the full style spectrum, starting from a dry style and ranging to lusciously sweet. Most of the vineyards are located on the slopes facing the river. Olivier Haag meticulously selects the best suited clones of Riesling to match the soils and microclimates of his vineyards in order to achieve the maximum potential in the grapes, and therefore in the wines.
