“Natalino Crognalietti produces wines with a distinctive minerality which are full of character and have an unbelievable ageing potential.”
The soils in Marche are Pliocene and Pleistocene marine sediments with also Holocene alluvial sediments. This means some clay accumulation and a high level of limestone. Marche has a large number of terroirs well suited to the cultivation of vines, particularly in the coastal hills around Ancona. Clay and limestone-rich soils contribute to the distinctive terroirs of the region.
A Passionate Lineage
Fattoria Sal Lorenzo is a third generation family winery that is completely organic and biodynamic. The family business is located in Montecarotto, 30 km from the Adriatic, behind the hills of Poggio San Marcelo. The grape Verdicchio has played an important part in the life of the Crognaletti family for many generations. Nowadays, Natalino benefits from the knowledge he got from his grandfather Enrico, and his father Gino, who spent his life selecting old clones of Verdicchio.
