"Vincent Wengier believes in hard work in the vineyard to allow the wines to express themselves".
Soil Specificity
The soil in Chablis is known as Kimmeridgean. Located in a sedimentary basin, this low-lying zone was gradually covered by the material that today make up the soil and subsoil of this wine region. One finds subsoils of gray marl which alternate with bands of limestone, sometimes very rich in fossils of Exogyra virgula, a small oyster that is characteristic of the marl from the Middle and Upper Kimmeridgean.

History / Ethos
Domaine Vincent Wengier operates nowadays 26 hectares of vines across 4 appellations. Focussing entirely on the Chardonnay, the domaine is currently in conversion to Organic farming. As one would expect in Chablis, the subsoils are from the Kimmeridgian, giving the wines their specificity. The wines are fermented and aged in stainless still tanks to ensure freshness and vitality. A perfect exemple of Chablis.
