"Henry Frédéric Roch and Yannick Champ certainly don’t consider themselves wine “makers”. The vigneron is not someone who simply makes a product, he manages a natural process".
Soil Specificity
The soils in Côte de Nuits result on the consequences of the uplift of the Alps and the collapse of the plain of the Saône. The vines are mainly planted on limestone slopes. At the summit sits the famous "stone of premeaux", giving Romanée-Conti, Richeboug, and La Tâche outstanding wines. The soils are formed of calcareous scree, limestone, and red silt with a large diversity of terroir contributing to the typicality of the Côte de Nuits wines.

History / Ethos
Domaine Prieuré-Roch was created by Henri-Frédéric Roch in 1988 by buying some parcels of vineyards to Domaine de la Romanée-Conti – of which his family is part-owner. This estate consists of 14 hectares of vines including 12 in the Côte de Nuits, mainly in the Nuits-Saint-Georges appellation. The Domaine is certified organic since 1995 and focusses on strict low yields to make terroir wines. Yannick Champ helped the Triple ‘A’ Domaine to gain recognition for his Natural approach.
