"Jean-Marie constantly and consistently strives for purity in grape and wine".
Soil Specificity
The soils in Côte de Nuits result on the consequences of the uplift of the Alps and the collapse of the plain of the Saône. The vines are mainly planted on limestone slopes. At the summit sits the famous "stone of premeaux", giving Romanée-Conti, Richeboug, and La Tâche outstanding wines. The soils are formed of calcareous scree, limestone, and red silt with a large diversity of terroir contributing to the typicality of the Côte de Nuits wines.

History / Ethos
Domaine Jean-Marie Fourrier is a 9 hectares estate located in Gevrey-Chambertin. Jean-Marie took over the family domaine in 1994, having worked previously with the legendary Henri Jayer. The latter's influence is reflected in the domaine's fastidious approach in the vineyard and minimal intervention in the winery and almost no use of sulphites. Jean-Marie works with only very old vines, mostly planted between the two World Wars, before the apparition of the modern clones. Jean-Marie Fourrier says great wines begin in the vineyard and follows natural wine making techniques.
