"Christine and Eric Nicolas produce incredibly pure, well defined wines with a fantastic aromatic complexity."
Soil Specificity
The large variety of soils in the Loire Valley is characterised by diverse natural environments. This region can be sub-divided in four climates, from western coastal regions to inlands - Pays Nantais / Anjou-Saumur / Touraine / Central Vineyards. In Touraine, the basement is composed of tufa chalk, flint, and clays from the Paris Basin. The geological diversity continues on the banks of the Loire and Vienne, made up of sands and gravels rolled by the streams and deposited over time.
A Passionate Lineage
Domaine de Bellivière was created from Scratch in 1995 by Christine and Eric Nicolas. Ten years later, they started to farm organically the vineyard, converting the whole estate to Biodynamic agriculture in 2008, and gaining the certification in 2011. Know-how, observation, listening to the living are the tools that allows to transcribe the soil in the taste of wine. Here, yields are voluntarily very moderate to express even more the terroirs. This young estate enjoys a well-deserved fast growing fame and recognition.
