Soil Specificity

The soils in Umbria are composed of Quaternary alluvial and lacustrine deposits. The alluvial soils, with shallow water table and large organic matter accumulation are ideals to grow vines, often local varieties. Here, clay, pebbles, and rocks play a major role in either retaining and draining water, to keep the quantity needed.

A Passionate Lineage

Roccafiore is an organic estate located on the hills near Todi, a medieval town in the heart of the Umbria region. This winery represents one of the most exciting realities in the somewhat sleepy Umbrian wine scene, thanks to the help of wine maker Hartmann Doná. The wines are crafted from local indigenous varietal Sagrantino, Sangiovese, Montepulciano and Grechetto di Todi. The same focus is given to perfectly ripen the vines and to craft outstanding wine in the winery. The quest for excellence is a daily basis embraced by the whole team.
