“Giorgio Medici and Venturelli Otello produce elegant wines using local grapes and techniques.”
The soils in Emilia-Romagna are Quaternary alluvial and glacio-fluvial deposits. From the rolling hills and Apennine peaks in the west to the lower-lying plains near Bologna, and beyond that the coastal plains of the Ferrara province, the soils are clay and sand based. The river Po flows west to east across all these features, marking the region's northern border and linking the Apennines to the Adriatic Sea.
A Passionate Lineage
Cantina Castelli del Duca was established by the Medici family in the Colli Piacentini region, in the western end of Emilia Romagna. This project was designed by the most important wine cellar of the region and the Medici family to offer special wines at great value for money. The investments in the cellar and vineyards ensure the level of quality remains stable year after year. The particular microclimate of this western part of the region, near Lombardy and Piemonte, lends to the production of red wines with character and weight, but always with an easy drinking feeling.
