“Marilena Aufiero produces refined wines full of character and personality.”
The soils in Campania are extrusive igneous rocks. The main soils are soils with more or less derived from volcanic materials, then one can find some soils with clay and iron oxides accumulation, or even alluvial soils. Campania is unique in that many of its vines are planted on their own rootstocks. Phylloxera pest simply cannot survive in Campania’s volcanic soils.
A Passionate Lineage
Cantina Bambinuto started to produce their own wine in 2004, a story similar to many other local small wineries. The low prices given for the grapes in the local co-op, pushed-up vine-grower to give an added value to their work as vine growers. The idea was to produce high quality grapes and to transform them into high quality wines under each Cantina's label. Marilena Aufiero now leads the estate, and under her supervision grapes from some of the best crus of the area are transformed into racy wines. Here attention is given to grapes in three small plots amongst the best one in the area surrounding the town of Santa Paolina.
