“Nicola Manferrari produces wines of great finesse and complexity, with a perfect balance.”
Soil Specificity
The soils in Friuli region vary from calcium rich marl and sandstone in the more hilly regions to clay, sand, and gravel in the valley. The region is comprised between the Alps, being the border with Austria, and the Adriatic Sea at the south. The northern half is very mountainous, so most of the vineyards are located in the southern half of the region, like Collio Goriziano, Colli Orientali del Friuli, Isonzo and Carso.

A Passionate Lineage
Borgo del Tiglio, as we know it nowadays, was created in 1981 by Nicola Manferrari. His life-long project is to craft wines that express the unique terroir of the Collio, where his dad, Giuseppe gained recognition farming 3 hectares of vines. The hills of Collio in Friuli, along the Italian-Slovenian border, face directly onto the Adriatic. Meticulous and painstaking care both in the vineyard and during the vinification process result in age-worthy wines. Borgo del Tiglio produces mainly white wines, while respecting the environment to enhance varietal characteristics.
